1) What is Child Care Links?

- Harford and Cecil Counties' Resource and Referral Center. We provide resource and referral services to parents to help them find child care and provide training and support services to potential and current child care providers.

2) What training will I need to become a Family Child Care Provider?

- You will need to complete the 6  four hour pre-service modules for a total of 24 hours of training. These modules cover each of the Core of Knowledge areas.In addition, you must obtain skills-based CPR and First Aid Certification suitable for the child age-ranges for which you will provide care. Any provider caring for children under the age of 2 years must attend a Sudden Infant Death Syndrome workshop. All the training Child Care Links offers has been approved by the OCC.

3) How often does a family child care provider need to take training?

Within the first year of becoming a Family Child Care Provider you must complete:
   - 3 hours in Child Development
   - 3 hours in Working with Mixed Age Groups
   - 3 hours in Health, Safety, and Nutrition
   - 3 hours in Emergency Preparedness
   - 6 hours in the other Core of Knowledge areas, Elective Subjects, or any other approved training

- After the first year of registration Family Child Care Provider are required to take 12 hours of OCC approved training a year
   - All 12 hours can be in the Core of Knowledge areas
     OR
   - 6 hours in the Core of Knowledge areas
   - 6 hours in elective training

4) What continued training does a Child Care Center/Preschool Director need to take?

- Training must be completed by their anniversary date

5) What continued training does a Child Care Teacher Infant/Toddler, Child Care Teacher Preschool, and Child Care Teacher School-age need to take?

6) What continued training does a Child Care Assistant and Aide need to take?
